dust does get into them. lenses are not air tight. well most of them aren't..
the aluminum foil and sun technique works well. it does not remove the fungus but does kill it. it takes a lot of damage to kill a lens. my 300 is close. f16 is bad, f22-32 is totally unusable..

OT re Roy's lens: I tried at one time to break some filter glass and it was hard even to dent it. And to make a mark like that really needs deliberate effort/force/. Unbelievable damage to a prime. Looks like the work ofa disgruntled wife of a photographer well a Pentaxian too. But why a Pentaxian's wife?
