Is the horse your daughters, or just one where she rides/take lessons?

The horse belongs to the stable at which shetakes lessons (3 minutes from our home and therefore very convenient). She's asked about owning her own horse. I have promised her that when I can afford to buy her the acreage and the barn, I'll throw in the horse or two as a bonus!!

She's been riding since she was 8 and this seems to be quite a passion. She frequently asks to go the barn just to hang around. Even as early as when she started riding, she's never been intimidated by the horses even though at the time the horses were twice her height....here is a picture from 2004 (don't mind the qualilty: it was taken with a point and shoot). LOL! The only problem with your own pasture and barn is that then there's far more involved than just basic care of the horse. You become very adept with a hammer, rake and pitchfork. Then there's land managment principles, and how do you get rid of all that manure??? It's a whole lot less work to board a horse somewhere else.
