Caught this little guy running down a very steep hill, very fast! Didn't have a chance to change anything so panned the shot and hoped for the best. The kid loved how it turned out, so I thought I would share. C&C Welcomed!

Geez . Panning has never been easy. You have a rare keeper displaying the cool motion of the image.
One thing I have noticed is that the boy was running at an angle towards you and your left side. Particularly for longer lens, the image would be out of your DoF in the next image. So catching the image in constant motion requires predictive focus tracking which is just not there in your K10D at all.
I solve the problem partly by adjusting the manual focus (forget the ever hunting AF) at the same time while panning. In doing so I have to freeze the image with high shutter speed. I am getting a lot more keeper these two weeks in my shots of ever present seagulls. I just have to forgo the lovely feeling of motion.
Panning is a fun subject
