I was out at a local lake this morning (35 degrees) shooting some ducks. I heard a flight of geese coming in and was disappointed when I realized they would be landing halfway across the lake from me. Even with a 400mm lens, the results were disappointing.

I was pleased, though, to realize that the birds were swimming directly to where I was set up on the shore.

Four geese separated to check that the shore was safe

Since I wasn't attempting to hid, it didn't take them long to discover me, but rather than being scared, they were far more curious

They soon decided I wasn't worth any more attention, other than to strike an occasional pose.

All shots taken in the early morning with the K10 and a Phoenix 100-400 AF zoom.
