As a part of the Raptor Education Program of the state Game and Fish Commission, this afternoon I attended a presentation on falconry at a nearby state park. While I wasn't tempted to take up the hobby, I was impressed by these beautiful birds up close. This female peregrine falcon has been retired from the hunt for breeding purposes. She was not particularly happy to be a part of the program and didn't hesitate to let people know.

Both red-tailed and Harris hawks were shown

The final bird shown was also the smallest, an American kestrel, hunted by the only licensed lady falconer in Arkansas.

All shots taken with the K10d and DA*50-135.
