This morning, I awoke to the growls and strange noises of one of the loudest small birds I have ever known, a Yellow-breasted Chat. Last summer, one of these absolutely drove me crazy since I could hear him anywhere I went in my yard, but could only catch glimpses of him when I had my camera. It took six weeks before I finally got a decent shot. This morning, there was one in my back yard, and I didn't feel like getting up and stalking him. I guess it bothered him because he came to the front yard and surrendered to the camera without a fight

He wasn't the only yellow bird to make an appearance, though. A pine warbler added his song.

Also flying through the edge of the woods were numerous Northern Cardinals and a Hermit Thrush

Finally, taking visits to the feeder were a first year Blue Grosbeak and a Chipping Sparrow

Thanks for looking,

Paul, it's funny that some birds are really shy most of the time, but then one comes along with a more gregarious personality. Especially during nesting season. I like the Pine Warbler, sitting on his namesake, then taking off.
