There's no better way to start the morning than sitting back on the front porch with a cup of coffee and the Bigma mounted on the K20d, enjoying the birds that visit my yard. This morning, however, I heard a hawk calling in the back....never did find him...but I did find these guys playing in the high brush along the power line cut

While they were playing, Mom was keeping an eye on me from the other side of the cut

Many of the cardinals, meanwhile, are looking pretty rough at this time of year. I can't hardly decide whether this is a female (really too much red on the breast) or a male going through a really ugly molt

This fellow looks better, but still far from his best

The biggest problem this chickadee had was waiting his turn at the feeder

On the bird shots, I was experimenting with high-speed sync on the Pentax 540 flash as fill-slash to help deal with harsh shadows in the bright sun. I liked the effect in this chickadee shot.

However, I wasn't the only one outside watching the birds

He decided, though, a nap on the hood of the car was a whole lot easier than chasing something he probably wouldn't catch.

That first one is outstanding! You can almost feel their fur. And I like your chickadee with the flash - it worked out quite well, too.

I agree with GW - you are having way too much fun with the Bigma.

I think you are having just the right amount of fun Paul. The Cardinal with the strange feathers is a juvenile cardinal and will probably turn out to be a male.
