Dell 2405 widescreen 24" here. I have been very happy with it for the last three years of service. Dell does have two grades of monitor, you can tell the better grade from the lower grade pretty easily on price. There are three different technologies used to produce LCD monitors and, as is usual in life, the cheapest method does not provide the best results. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TFT_LCD#Types

At home my hubby uses a 20" iMac. I have a 15" MacBook Pro hooked up to the new 24" Apple Cinema Display. I like having dual monitor capability, especially when using Lightroom2. I thought I would use it more with Photoshop, but the screen just seems plenty big enough without having tools on the laptop's monitor also.

At work I have a 19" Dell for my own computer, and dual 30" Dell LCD (the better quality ones) for a workstation that I also use. I think I like the Apple monitor a wee bit better, even though it isn't as big. If I hadn't switched to Mac, I sure would have wanted one of those 30" Dell monitors, they are very nice.

11+ year old Nokia 447L.

Nokia was bought out by ViewSonic a little over a year after I bought this bad boy. Fifteen inches and 6 or 7 OS's later and it still works just fine thank you very much.

Thank you very much to everyone who responded. This is very helpful information. I still don't know what we'll decide to get, but you have really helped with our market research. Happy New Year to one and all.
