Ok here's how I made those qvtr movies in 2 Castles Qvtr

I've used PTGui for the Pano and Qvtr, Photoshop for the rest.

You start with a 360° panorama.

Open the result in photoshop, crop the black from the top and bottom, then enlarge the canvas so that it has a ratio of 2 to 1.

( qvtr needs a source that is 360° wide and 180° high)

Before going on with any processing, check that the horizon is placed in the middle of the image, otherwise you'll end up with a down or up look in the qvtr.

I didn't take time to photograph the sky so I have to fake it, just select a part, copy and paste it in a new layer and stretch it a bit.

Repeat this until you've filled the sky.

The top of the image must have an uniform color so select the darkest top color of the sky, add a new layer and place a transparency mask so the sky gradually ends up in the same color.

For the botom create a square image and place whatever you would like in it. The conversion of the center isn't perfect so keep out of it.

use the polar coordinates filter to change it from polar to rectangular coordinates

(conversion to qvtr will change it back)

copy this into the image, rotate it 180° and stretch it out on the bottom

Then export it as jpg and in PTGui select utilities/convert to qvtr and ...

It was a bit quick so the result isn't perfect.

The subject is the Sint Bernadus Abbey in Hemiksem (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Bernard's_Abbey,_Hemiksem)

If you want the source images (starting from the pano)
abbey.psd (photoshop file 40MB)

abbey.jpg (the file used for the qvtr 5MB)
