Wonderful shots! I envy you the butterflies - about the only one that I've taken that was half-way decent was similar to yours - the only way I could manage a picture was while they were otherwise occupied.

I really love the waterfall - gotta work at getting one like that.

Thanks for all the kind comments. This region is so beautiful (especially this time of year) that it's easy to take pretty photos. Just point your camera and press the shutter button!

GW - Thanks for the encouragement! You must have some calluses on your trigger finger!

MtnMan - Thanks for your kind words! If you want an amazing Appalachian experience, try visiting Roan Mt in early June - when the Rhododendrons and Azaleas are in bloom all across the mountains. It's a great hike from Carver's Gap up to Grassy Ridge. I have lots of photos, but taken with my old Canon Powershot, so will not post them here. Maybe in a month or so...

MtnGal - Thanks! I have taken many butterfly photos with the old powershot, and am looking forward to even better ones this summer with the Pentax. My best shots have usually come from waiting at nectar sources until the 'flies show up - or waiting at puddles on old gravel roads where the male butterflies like to go "puddling." As far as waterfalls, I saw your photo of the day and know you take excellent waterfall shots!

Rodney - thanks! Would love to see some of your work too!
