Default Studio Lighting suggestion

Hello, I just got a job doing portrait photography for small children. I am new to using studio equipment but am getting the hang of it. The company uses Fujifilm DSLR's along with the provided studio equipment to set up in home shoots. I am looking for equipment of my own for my K10d and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. Also I was wondering how to sync to studio equipment from the body. The Fujifilm has a sync cord plug that plugs into a strobe power pack, but I'm not sure what i would use on the K10d for connection or power. Would the hot shoe be the option for wired and wireless connection???? And how would the power connect with the camera and lights?????

Any suggestions on studio kit equipment, set up, or where to find a good deal would be appreciated, Thanks

My partner has studio strobes-not sure what kind-when I use my K10d I have to use the Wein Safe Sync-it has a sync port on the side. This limits you to a wired connection-but it works. He has a wireless pod-the foot is too thick to slide on the Pentax Hot Shoe so I have to be wired.
