Default Owl's Nest - Chicks Out of Nest

Yesterday for the first time I saw the chicks out of the nest, not flying, just standing on branches near the nest. There was not a lot of activity, saw one adult and both chicks. No one was in the nest. My wife thinks the young owls look like a dust mop, how would you describe them?

Definitely a dust mop! They are so fuzzy, they look like someone's super-soft stuffed animal, not like a real bird at all. Not at all like their parents, what they will look like when they grow up. They are so CUTE! If it weren't for those rather intimidating eyes (they get them young, don't they?) I'd want to hug it close and enjoy the softness.

So fluffy! They look like pussy willows that have been pulled on. Is the one in the third image resting? Or, just peeking down at you and leaning on the branch?

Wonderful photos of the detail & personality. And quite cute looking too!

PS to Harriet - they may look cute, but having worked with a number of these guys, I can tell you NOT to try to hug them!! (can show you a few scars on the arms to demonstrate why...)
