Default Ssssshhhhhh!..........Animals Sleeping

It was a gloriously warm, sunny afternoon in central Arkansas, and Brenda and I decided to make the most of it by wandering around the Little Rock Zoo. The animals, though, weren't interested in using the day as an exercise period. They were much more interested in finding a nice patch of sun and taking a nice, long nap.

My hopes rose when I got to the Malayan Tiger environment. He was, at least, awake, if taking care of a little grooming

But, it was just a prelude to a nap..... then he got totally ridiculous

At the lion enclosure....more of the same

Not even the king of beasts? But wait, here's an alert soul!

I might even get to hear a roar......

Sorry....... it was a yawn

What could I do? When we got back to Hot Springs, I found a nice soft spot in the sun.......

All photos taken with the K-7 and the Bigma.

The tiger in #5 is just great - super capture. I have a collection of zoo sleepers on 35mm slides which I should digitize (like a lot of other things I never get around to).

The first 2 tiger shots have such nice color. Nice job. With having small kids, I tend to get to the zoo a lot. Nice group of subjects.

This series is just too funny! I know what you experience - too often I go to a zoo and the only thing awake are a few birds.

Wow nice work! My Wife is going to love these. The ones of the Tiger are my favorite of the group.

my experience has been that if you want to see the animals active, then leave your camera at home
these are all nicely detailed and tell a good story

thats a decent set of teeth on the sleeping tiger
