Default Apes and a Couple of Others from the Zoo

One of my favorite animals to check on each time I go to the zoo is the zoo's pride a joy. I first photographed this young male lowland gorilla three years ago.

Three years later he's well on his way to being an impressive specimen

The newborn ape today is in the chimp enclosure

Turtles aren't normally my favorite subjects at the zoo, but I couldn't help but laugh at the parallelism in this shot

or the determination on the face of this relatively small box turtle

All photos with the K-7 and Bigma.

A couple of red eared sliders, not exotic at all. There's 35 of them now living in the botanical gardens, most abandoned there. They are all sorts of sizes from pretty small to quite large. It's fun watching them. But of course my favorite is the newborn chimp - very nice shot.

Great photos - color and composition just right. That last turtle is sure staring you down!

Great series, love the fact that you have 2 shots of the same gorilla.
