Great series, Mole!
I especially like the Turk's Cap Lilies and the Pipevine Swallowtails!

Life's a breeze on a Goldwing...

i like the "not a great view" photos with the mist
we dont get much of that here
and the lilies with the butterflies are great
especially the single butterfly one

whats a bad weather trail ?

Loved the vine & web shots !

Also preferred the 2nd Carolina Lily (closely followed by the 3rd).

The shot of the two Swallowtails is just brilliant !

So you did get the model for the mimics in the Bugs and Blooms thread. Beautiful shots - the symmetry in the first one is so perfect that it looks planned!

The Polypody shot reminds me of a line of Parasol (leafcutter) Ants with the ants themselves just out of sight below and only the cut leaves (their "parasols") waving in the air above them as they march along back to their underground fungus gardens.
If life brings you lemons, you can make lemonade.

GW - Thanks! Those Lilies were in a fine sunny spot, and just FULL of swallowtail butterflies. But most were too fast for me - took a lot of really bad shots to get just a few good ones. Again using the old A 70-210 lens.

Gumnut - Glad you enjoyed the little winged critters and the fine foggy views! The bad weather trail is an alternate route for the AT. The "official" trail runs along Firescald Knob in a very rocky, open & exposed location that is really not too safe at times of storm or high winds. Hence the bad weather alternate - no views but more shelter. I took both, and was glad for the views on one, and the rich green on the other.

Lou - Thanks so much!

Jelpee - Thanks for the kind words!

Ronny - It was quite windy around the spiderweb, so it kept "bouncing" in & out of focus. Was glad to get at least a few fairly sharp shots...

Frogfish - Thanks for your very kind & helpful comments!

Penolta - So glad you found & enjoyed these! I can see what you mean about the polypody!!

Awesome shots, all of them. But the double butterflies is just awesome! Definitely my favorite but all of them are excellent.
