$1400 initial price? That makes more sense than 1600. I'll think about it at that price, perhaps plan on buying when it drops closer to $1100 in a couple of months. I still want to see both the noise control and the dynamic range before I make a decision. If the noise is good but less dynamic range, I'll go with the Kr.

the rumour mill suggested drasticly improved dynamic range along with less noise - but then rumour mill not the most reliable source =) still i'm with you waiting to see but will likely get it once the price drops slightly but gotta be before the end of teh year as our tax rate going up next year so want tog et it before that happens

I have been following it a bit here and there - actually here on Steve's its nice to not see the endless threads and speculation about it.

It looks to be a very nice evolution of the K7 with a number of capable upgrades.

My main concern is screwdrive on the body, especially since the last few new lenses that have come out do not support screwdrive. I figure ultimately after a few years the screwdrive will be dropped from the body. Since I am not going to rebuy glass, thus switch to another brand, I'll just buy new several bodies for replacement (as the old model goes end of life) to last me another 10 to 15 years - till I kick the bucket.

For now, my K20 just back from CIRS looks to be just fine so I skipped the K7 and probably the K5 (unless the K20 just drops dead). So at least another few years till I even think about a new body.
