I finally got tired of obsessing over the K-5. So, I took my Panasonic G2 and GF1 down to Adorama this morning and got a good price for them on trade-in... allowing me to bring the purchase price of a K-5 body down below $1000 - even with sales tax and some accessories. So I left the store with a new K-5 box in an Adorama plastic bag.

I'm at work now and probably won't be able to really play with the camera until this weekend. I went for the extended warranty from Pentax ($19.95) for a total of three years. So, I'm in the club. I'm excited... but slightly anxious. I hope my camera is one of the trouble-free K-5s. Still, almost all K-5 owners I have communicated with tell me they'd buy again even with some of the issues they've dealt with.

Wohoo! Congratulations to your new camera. I wasn't that brave and went away with the K-r "only".

Good luck with having a "trouble-free" copy.

Last time I was hanging around I was looking at the K5. Had gotten the ok from hubby to buy when I'm ready. It's now two months later and I still haven't bought one. Too many things going on. But, still as excited about knowing it's almost in my hands. I keep saying when it drops below $1000.

Congratulations! I also hope you have a trouble free version. And, look forward to seeing what you get with it. Hopefully, I'm not far behind you.

Congrats! Where's the first coffee cup shot (that always seems to be one of my first pictures with a new camera or lens)? I bought the extended warranty also - I normally don't but figured it would be worth the peace of mind (especially after returning one for stains). But I haven't had any more problems, knock on wood. I sometimes think I'm jinxed that way - if I buy the extended warranty I won't have any reason to use it. If I don't whatever I get breaks a month after the normal one runs out.

Looking forward to your photos as you get used to the new camera (and interface - I loved it from the beginning, even though I kept having to look up in the manual where things were and how to change them).

Congrats on the new purchase. Don't worry, I'll take your place in the obsessing queue
