Kevin - So glad you enjoyed these "feathered friends!" Thanks for the specific comments too. And yes, that Tokina does make some interesting bokeh with twigs & such in the background. I am definitely not a bokeh expert, but it looks good to me...

Hans - Thanks so much! Long lens is a big help with the little birds, but even more helpful (for me) is watching to learn their habits. Helps me guess where & when to watch for them, and how best to approach them. Wearing dull-colored clothes, moving slowly, avoiding direct eye contact also all seem to help.

Harriet - It is a fun lens - plenty of focal length, but very small and easy to hand hold. Works best at around f 8 - 11. And was MUCH cheaper than the Sigma 500 (or the expected price of the Pentax 560). Perhaps there's one at KEH, PentaxForums Marketplace or Ebay calling your name!

Nice images as usual, mole. That first one sure is strange looking. Never seen a bird like that before with those funky looking feet.

Great photos Mole. I'm not familiar with a coot, but the photos are great! I'm also very fond of bluebirds. They're not exactly rare in my area, but they're not very common either. They're sufficiently uncommon that it's always a good day whenever I see one. I can only assume that you had a good day too.
