Just thought this might be of interest. I own a Black Rapid strap that was quite expensive but very comfortable. I wanted a second strap but didn't really want to lay out that much cash, so I made my own. I know this has been done before but if you are interested in seeing my solution just check this out:
http://aicphotography.blogspot.ca/20...era-strap.html I know I am using the Olympus gear but remember that in just eight days time I will again be a Pentaxian.

Good work Ira !
The only improvement I can think of is that I always have a back up (mine's a shoelace *hides face in shame* ) tied from a ring on the Black Rapid strap directly to the camera's strap ring. It saved a K5 once when the screw attached to the tripod mount came loose without me noticing during a full days' shoot, so the simple shoelace has demonstrated it's worth to me already !

On my K20D I have a mount on the strap lug, I posted a picture of it here a while back, here it is.
BTW this is sewn together so that it cannot slip apart, very sturdy. Oops, this shows it on the old K10D, I have used the same idea on the K20D.

I built a similar strap for mine about a year ago I also used the strap lug. I like the camera hanging over my neck and one shoulder also and low so I can have a hand on it, Nice job

That's an idea, Simon, with the shoelace. I have a BosStrap http://www.bosstrap.com/ that I love. It doesn't attach to the tripod socket, but to the normal strap lug. Although, I do worry at times that something might not hold since it's only held in one spot on the camera. I might have to try rigging something as a backup with a shoelace to the other lug.
Good work, Ira. Was probably much cheaper than our alternatives. Patty |

I like your K20 solution - the tripod mount was the main reason I never went with the black rapid strap. Otherwise I thought it was a very cool idea.
