Default Rescued Raptors in flight

On the way to the Grand Canyon we needed to kill some time before we could check in to our hotel. We went to a local animal park to see some rescued birds. Got a chance to see some flying with the trainers. Wrong lens (too short) but got a few shots. A male Harris’ Hawk and I believe a Great Horned Owl. ISO 800 and cropped shot with Kr and 18-135

Very impressive shots. Looked like you focused on the eye's and that worked really well...very sharp. I like the bit of blur with the wings...gives the impression of action.

The length of the wings on both raptors is really something.

The action shots are the kind of photo's I would love to get.

Thumbs up !

Great colors and detail, and wonderful captures of the birds' intense expressions!

Looks like a GH Owl to me as well, perhaps a different sub-species from our eastern GH Owls? Eyes are a bit redder, and no white on the breast feathers...

Hans, these are dynamite shots! To get birds in flight that sharp is a real talent, particularly the GHO flying directly at you. Thanks for sharing.

Wow, all are excellent shots, but #2 and #4 are my favorites. Focus and composition are both fabulous. I have had the good fortune to see eagles and hawks in the wild, and over the years I have gotten a few halfway decent photos. But my best photos pale in comparison to these.
