Was out cycling to a nearby school a few weeks ago, and had time to pause at a nearby abandoned farm. The Ironweed ("farewell-to-summer") was still in bloom, attracting some of the last of the pollinators.

Folks call it "farewell to summer" because it blooms as summer ends, and continues on into the autumn. Considered a pest on farmland because of its tough roots and low nutritional value for livestock, it does make a pretty accent to the autumn hills...

And the crumbling barns and sheds seem to blend well with the autumnal tints...

Also checked out a nearby spring - once a source of clean drinking water for several families, now home to numerous GreenFrogs. Most are too shy for this (impatient) photographer, but one was kind enough to pose for a few shots. Perhaps he thought the fallen leaves gave him enough camouflage...

Hope you enjoyed these glimpses of rural East Tennessee in the autumn, and that you'll share your comments & critique.
(PS - best wishes to all here in the U.S. for a fine and blessed Thanksgiving!!) |

I really like the crumpling barns and sheds shots, and, of course, who could resist the green frog photos? Wonderful work, as usual.

+1 on all the remarks, it's getting hard coming up with new adjectives for your work,
Hans
