Default Anhinga Catch

Anhinga's fish like cormorants, diving under water to catch their meal. That bill must really be sharp to be able to penetrate something as small and light as a minnow. This bird came to the surface with an impaled minnow and went through all kinds of contortions to work it off so it could eat the morsel. Usually as soon as they hit the surface with a minnow they flip it in the air and catch it in their mouth.

Awesome pictures. The bird was going cross-eyed getting that minnow off!

What a great series! I can really see the bird's frustration in these photos.
