Simon, I'm still impatiently waiting on my K1 from B&H. I'll be happy to post some pictures when it arrives. Hope you like Christmas scenes.

Ok, it's been too quiet around here. Some not all that exciting or great K1 pictures:

Taken a few hours later:

Portable chain saw:

Nothing special, just some scenics. Mostly (if not all) taken with the 28-105 lens. Not a perfect lens but pretty sharp for a kit lens.

I think others have shown the capability of the K1 to capture data in shadows and how easy it can be to draw out those details. But I thought I would post an example here. It's much better than the K3, more like the K5 in that regard.

I was playing around with a flash mounted on Cactus wireless triggers. I had accidentally changed the frequency on one of them as I was moving things around, and the flash didn't go off. Here's the resulting image, very underexposed but not completely black (I was trying to expose the foreground with flash but keep the view out the window more or less properly exposed):

And I got this with a little processing:

While it increased the noise some, it was well controlled.

In case you are wondering, it's been raining the past couple of days and I decided I would melt if I tried to tear down camp in the rain. Not really, I just didn't feel like it and have enjoyed the break. But need to get moving today.

If anyone is interested in what I've been able to do with the K1 (no demanding pictures), there's lots of examples here:

Hi Harriet,

I agree -- much too quiet. . .

Nice! Glad to see you're having fun with your K-1 experimenting.

I also have been playing -- had my first ever successful fireworks shoot out of many many tries . . . I'll open a new thread with a bunch of pics.

Nicely done! I really like the K1's low light capability.

Ah, internet again! Though only on the cell phone.

If I can find somewhere around here (Lake Louise) that has free wifi I'll upload some pictures. I haven't had much cell or internet for days.

I haven't used my KS1 since I left, and the weather has been so wet I don't want to. More later...

Harriet, the package arrived and I am one very happy camper. I will carry my (our?) K5 most of the time, the K7 has been retired to the backup drawer and the K3 will take its first outing this week to shoot the teams at a charity golf tournament sponsored by my wife Annette's service club. I'll be sure to post some of the results here. The K1 shots look fantastic BTW.
