Default Cards and Pirates

Last month, I had the privilege (?) of attending a couple of upper 90 degree temperature games in Busch Stadium in St. Louis. Anytime you shoot from the stands in a major league stadium, you are obviously very limited to the shot angles you can enjoy. First night, we were on the first base side and got both of the plays at second base. The next night we were on third base plate and got the play at first. All three shots were with the K-5 with a a Tamron 70-300.

Very nice! So many venues don't allow dSLR cameras any more, saying they are too "professional." You were lucky to have the opportunity to shoot such nice shots.

Cardinals have what I think is a reasonable policy. No tripods or monopods in the stands. Long lenses are OK, as long as they don't interfere with your neighbor's enjoyment of the game. I would not take my Bigma; I suspect someone would object.

Of course, there is no way you have freedom of movement, so you just have to get lucky on a play angle. I thought it was an interesting coincidence that in the first photo Aledmys Diaz of the Cardinals was tagging out Harrison (forget first name) of Pittsburgh, and in the second photo, Diaz is sliding under Harrison's tag.

Nice captures Paul, The Tigers have the same policy but I've only taken a P&S to the games. The spring season has smaller stadiums and I do plan in attending a few games with a 400mm

I guess I should have kept my old Tamron ;-)

Great action shots there, well done.
