It looks like I've decided to purchase the *ist DS2, and the store that I am purchasing it from currently does not have the Pentax 18-55mm F3.5-5.6lens in stock. The salesperson says I should go with the Sigma 18-50mm F3.5-5.6lens.

Are both lenses pretty well comparable? They are both selling for exactly the same price, but my gut feeling is telling me that I should just wait for the Pentax lens.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I have no experience with the Sigma lens but the 18-55 Pentax suits me just fine. IMHO this lens is mostly underrated. Still, others recommend the 16-45 Pentax which is a bit more expensive.

This pic is one of my initial ones with the kit lens.

I tested both lenses and think, there is noreal difference between those two lenses.

I took the pentax-lens because "it's the original one" and I like it.
