Yes, both cameras are variants of the original DS, but they still have some differences:

1. DS and DS2 are basically the same camera except that the DS2 has a larger 2.5" LCD monitor.

2. DL has a slightly smaller viewfinder magnification and smaller numeric display in the finder. The rear element of its viewfinder optics do have anti-reflection coating which the DS lacks. The image is a bit sharper and brighter to my eyes (when compared to the DS). The smaller display and finder is acceptable to me.

Both neither. They are just entry level models, I'm afraid.

Noted that the DL don't have the TTL flash sensor and it is therefore it does not support the older Pentax TTL flash units if you have one of them and thus you will have to use manual flash mode only. It only works with the built-in flash or the 360 flash unit which supports the P-TTL mode.
