Hello, I have been reading on cleaning the camera lenses since slr/dslr is still relatively new to me.

It appears that

1.It isbest to usecamera cleaning fluid and a cloth. Also, a bulb air blower if needed. Apply cleaner to cloth not to lense andNO EYE GLASS CLEANER/CLOTHS

2. Do not clean too much , this can damage the lense (didn't understand this coatings maybe?)

Anyone care to add any cleaning tips. I did a search here and really didn't see a post related to it. Maybe it is considered too simple, but I have some old lenses coming in and I am trying to be careful. Apparetly they can have different coatings.

Thanks for any tips!

Did a search on Google and came up with a number of sites with "how to do" instructions. Here are a couple of URLs

and one for cleaning your sensor if that becomes necessary

I use a LensPens. You can get them at Circuit City, Ritz , and many other stores. They work really well. On one end is a retractable brush and the other the cleaning tip. Most of the time all you need is the brush to remove dust.
