First Flight IV
Well, this is the last one.
These pics can't beat the last set, as the parents are no longer going to the nest.
These two shots will give you an idea how far away the nest and landing tree was:

Since the two Eaglets have Flown away from the nest several times, the parents no longer come to the nest.

The parents are hanging out in the woods behind me. This shot was from a long ways away.

I went the past two days and nothing happened. The eaglets just sat near the nest until dark. No parents.

Yesterday, one eaglet was gone and the other still near the nest.
Near dark, the eaglet finally flew to the top of one tree,

then to the one they practiced on so much,

then to the woods behind me to join the other eaglet and parents.

I think this was a goodbye. I was kinda sad yet so happy I got to see all this.
The Pro's I was shooting with told me they have been using that nest for 22 years, so I'll be back and ready next year with much better know-how and better lenses.

I hope Y'all enjoy this series...

I didn't know my Portrait of a Bald Eagle was that bad.

I collect eagles and enjoy the ones that are out of the ordinary the most.

Great series. Really nice shots. We get bald eagles as occasional visitors in this part of Vermont, but there are no nests, so like many others on this forum, I'm envious of your good fortune having a nest so close.

what a brilliant series of photos, they may not all be "perfect" shots but the story they tell is wonderfull and i sure hope you do get to do this all again next year

so are you saving up for a longer lens until then

Thanks for the nice replies folks. I feel blessed that the nest is so close to me, (less than 2 miles from my house along Puyallup River). I only caught the last week before they flew for the first time. Next Spring, I will be ready in the beginning and I hope to have at least a f2.8 400mm or 500mm lens by then.
