City BIF shots Sept 6

Kind of stuck in the city during this Labor Day weekend. Had to cat sit , dog sit for people around me . I cannot drive out too far away. So I could only take some gull B I F shots

Seagulls may be common but, they sure make for great practice!

I really like the second and third shots. In the fourth shot, it almost looks like the gull picked off more than he'd be able to handle...big fish for that size bird.

Gulls may be common for some of you, but I wish I had more opportunities to practice on them.

I like them all. The last one of the gull and the fish is a keeper. I like the two of them looking eye to eye.

Thanks for taking time to comment. I have been trying to improve my keeper rate when doing panning shots in slower shutter speed to get the sense of motion. Kind of real hit and miss. But fun

As long as the head and eyes are in sharp focus, motion blur can be an effective tool, because the observer's eyes always fixate on the subject's eyes. Getting the right amount of blur, however, will always be hit and miss.

Gulls are not fussy about what they eat, so they will always be a good subject for this as you can bait them in with almost anything! It helps to have an assistant do the throwing, though, so you don't have to take your eye and camera off the subject.

Keep up the good work - practice makes perfect.
