Default Pentax Optio 430RS problem

After many months of perfect use, my 430RS now has a problem with the shutter release. Pressing halfway still locks the autofocus but taking a pic needs a huge amount of pressure on the button. -- before, it just needed a gentle press. The camera hasn't been dropped or otherwise damaged and when I dissambled it to take a peek, the microswitch beneath the shutter release button 'looks' okay. Any ideas out there..?

First port of call is to contact Pentax if your camera is still in warranty.

Secondly, at your own risk, get hold of an aerosol air blaster and give a little blast in the gap around the shutter button in an attempt to dislodge any foreign body that may be partially stuck between the contacts.

If that doesn't solve it then it sounds like a condensation induced problem leading to slight tarnish/corrosion of the shutter button contacts.

If Pentax can't help you under your warranty then any competent camera service shop or even watch repair shop should be able to open up your camera and clean up the contacts for you.

I hope that helps a little.
