Default Pentax *ist D question

Hi all,

I'm looking for a DSLR and think the Pentax *ist D might meet my needs, but I have some questions which owners / users may be able to answer.

I just want a DSLR to replace my (extremely user friendly, manual, simple) Canon AE1. Does the Pentax *ist D allow metering (spot, by preference) using K mount lenses or do you have to use AF lenses set to manual?

I'm not an ist D owner, but own a lot of analog Pentax SLRs. My best guess is that YES you can do spot metering with old K-mount lenses. I think it is multi-segment metering that can be the problem with non-AF lenses. You could ask in the Pentax forum at http://www.pdml.net/, there you find a lot of ist D owners!
