I know it is nearly 2 years later, but some of us diehard Optio S fans still sound like we had workible cameras until recently.

My camera finally hick-uped and I was able to stop the error sounds and get the camera to give me the A90 error.

But I cannot find the fwdc110p.zip / bin file anywhere. All the old suggestions have no files. I called Pentex support and was told they have no idea what I am talking about and that no updated firmware exists. The A90 is a internal board issue and I must send the camera in for repair.

Anyway, if any one has a copy of the update. I would be grateful.

Thanks to everyone for their contribution,

I am new to this forum and i have a pentax optio s displaying a90 ERROR after searching and viewing for solutions i had recover it. i download the file from the link given above and load it in the root directory of my sd card and then menu+oN+flash and then flash+flash+right+right+menu and secret menu --> rom update--> system initial after that it turn off and then on and still a90 then i switch it off and menu+on but it show version 1.00 and then a90 then after taking a working optio s i put the card and menu+on but it show version 1.00 and still a90 then i put the file fwdc110p.bin every folder in sd card and menu+on it showed update program (Yes/No) i switch it off and took again the on with a90 error place the sd card in it menu+on and it show version 1.00 and still a90 then i fully charged the battery then did the same procedureand voila its alive.

I am too in need of the firmware for S4 - fwdc114p.bin

I have looked everywhere for it but come up emtpy.

I have found firmware for the Optio S & Optio s4i, but not the Optio s4!

Why doesn't Pentax have this?

Hola a todos. Primero decir que no vuelvo a comprarme una "PEnTAX" jamás, y ya me estoy encargando por mi parte de extenderlo para que nadie caiga en las garras de esta gentuza por no llamarles algo más gordo. Tengo el mismo problema que todos, el error A90 que sale justo después de cumplida la garantia. Está clarisimo que se trata de una estafa y espero que algún organismo actue en consecuencia y consiga meterles mano al igual que ellos la han metido en nuestros bolsillos. Suerte a todos.

Well, I guess it is my turn.

I've read through all 19 pages of this thread, and I see a lot of you are having success with the Optio S camera.

A few of us have been having this problem with the Optio S5i camera, but we all seem to have problems accessing the "secret menu" a.k.a the "technicians menu." When I press menu+flash+on the camera turns on normally and displays the a90 error. No secret menu for me!

Has anyone figured out how to get to the secret menu with the Optio s5i yet?
