I ve found several online shops that sell batteries for optio that "contain" more mA than the original battery from FUJI / Pentax NP40 D-LI8

the following one is on ebay (but you can try akku-international.de) proposes 1400mA which is the double... and it much cheaper !

Is it a good idea to buy such batteries ? does it increase the number of shots you can make ???

Thank you for your answers !

Increasing mAh does increase the number of shots you will get. You can go over the minimum amount needed by any particular digicam - just make sure you don't go under.

1400 mAh isn't a lot these days. I would go up to 2000 as a minimum, mostly because you can use them in items that draw more power, if the occasion arises. Here in the U.S., you can now get rechargeable AA's that go up to 2500mAh.
