I thought the tree was interesting.
I was not sure if I should have added the model or just go for a landscape.

Both, I think you should have shot it both ways, with and without the model. I like the dark feel to the shot and the B&W works well adding to the dark feeling. You were going for a dark feeling in this shot, right?
