Just moved up from a point-and-shoot to the mighty Rebel Xsi, and I am in love. Since depth of field is a new playground I thought I'd experiment in a local graveyard. This is my first post, so don't scar me too badly.

Hey Mate, yes i certainly remember the recent time when I took control of the depth of field. You probably know already, but to maximise DOF select the largest aperture ie the lowest f stop number 2, 3 or 4 dunno with your lens, choose a focal point with a good distance from the background. It also really heaps if your subject contrasts in colour to the blurred background. To practice more I suggest going into your garden and taking some close ups of some flowers, you will definitely enjoy seeing what you can achieve. Good luck!
