Default Is Lens-Flare acceptable in sunset-pictures - or is it a "No-no"?

I have recently shot some sunset pictures straigt into the sun, with the obviouse lens-flares and sun-spots in the picture as a result. Is this photo still acceptable or is it automaticly downgradet or even disqualified because of the flares and reflections?

This is the second attempt to post this thread and I hope it will stay here. Ref.: New thread posted today, as well as posting in existing thread - are now missing...

Have a nice sunday!

Is lens flare acceptable in a picture, sometimes yes, sometimes no. It depends on the shot and weather the flare adds or subtracts from the overall picture. Am I alone in this thinking, I don't think so. Just look at most every photo editing program on the market, they all have an effects tool to add lens flare. Now if the programs just had a easy tool for removing lens flare.
BTW, the flare works in your posted shot.

To me lens flare works best when it eminates from a single identifiable light source. In your pic the area around the sun is so bright you cant see the shape of the sun at all.

Its your picture, you're the artist, you decide.

If it was my picture, I would find the flare too excessive as it is. That its flare is fine; its just that that area of the image is way too bright; too much of the foreground subject and of the sky have been washed out.

Too much flare Walter. You can see some optical artifacts that in this particular case, i don't find they're needed for the artistic result.
