Taken in a round room of a structure containing a relic of Lord Buddha at King Rama 4's summer palace in Phetchaburi, Thailand.

Very nice lighting and good composition that conveys tremendous spatial content.

i love this picture. minimal and effective. great use of light and shade and almost as if it were a painting like Walter said. would love it framed on a canvas in my office. makes the mind wonder what lies at the top of them stairs...
excellent work john

I love it when others see what I see in one of my images. Thanks for your comments.

I know this is the critique section and you are looking for how to improve this, but I don't see how. I wouldn't change a single thing.

I like the image a lot and agree that it feels like a painting, rather than having the tradition rule of thirds its almost like the 3 elements are gathered around in a circle talking to each other. It adds a sense of peace rather than the usual dynamism of a leading your eye through an image. Even the very dark shadows, rather than being a weakness helps remove elements that don't need to be focused on. This is a rather good of example of how NOT following the book leads to a more interesting picture.

I'm not very good at accepting praise. I feel honored by the kind words from all the posters.
Tried and failed to identify the compositional elements early in PP. After I brought out the shadows on the floor I saw the three arches as points on a triangle but I like y0chang's description of a conversational relationship much better. |

Ok I will do it. Very nice photo by the way. Anything the distracts my eye from the main subject becomes a problem. If it were my photo, I would clone out that bright slice of light on the left side. It looks like the starting of another arch. Eliminate that and it becomes a very powerful image.....
