So, some 8 months back I had come here to choose between SX40HS and FZ150. I was strongly leaning on the Canon because of its superior zoom. However, when I got close to buying, I picked up the Lumix as I felt it was overall a better instrument. Thank you all for the big help.

What I would say with the shot,is that the 1/40th sec shutter speed used is a bit too slow- and results in the shot being "softer" than ideal. If you shot this wide open in "A" (f/5.2)- as opposed to f/8- you could have attained a higher shutter speed, and potentially a sharper result.
