When out for a stroll i came across a rat that was hit by a car. Yea its a common regular pesky rat, but it was still a creature that had a life. I was compelled to take a few images to see if i could capture something other than a dead rat/road kill.
All constructive critique appreciated.

Overall I like it. Nice shallow DOF. Composition is good.
Subject is just a little creepy to me... ;-) |

Good shot, invokes a strong emotion and the B&W works great.

Did you shoot this from a variety of angles...? I'd like to see some more...!
I think if you got it from the other side with its feet curled up,it would add to the "Death" feeling...

Thanks for the feedback guys, much appreciated. Glad that it invoked similar emotions in you also and it wasnt just something that only I was seeing.
#SIMON40, I see your point, and I did get a few different angles, but they just didnt seem to work so well as this one. They were ok, but the angles just didnt do justice, and as this was on a road, i didnt get many more opportunities (i had to lie on the road to get the low angle, which is'nt the safest place to be!). Also, the claws and all that extra detail make the images i got feel just a little too busy, and detract from the minimalist feel & some of the emotion. in those ones my is drawn to all those details and misses the little things like the slightly bent whiskers and the matted hair.

I don't know what it is exactly, but I like this shot. I am not sure it can be improved on, and find that my first response to it was an emotional one. This is a subject that rarely finds itself in the main stream of photography, so maybe that's what attracts me to the image...Well done!
