172 views and not one Critique, must be a stinker.

Did not know how this one turned out and was hoping to get feedback from the group good are bad.

Guess not,

jj

No, it's not a "stinker".

Actually, I had to do a "double take" as Im now looking at the PIX on one of my other computers with the least capable LCD. For a bit of time, I actually thought that you changed the PIX (ie, modified it). Mainly, this particular photo might appear radically different (for some reason or another - unquantifiable) to others because of the display that they are using.

It is quite colorful and I would try repeating the shot under different sun angle conditions. Perhaps one with minimal shadows then one at dusk or with cloud cover to get an even lighting and then hear what people say/think.

Jim, I'm sorry, I fall into the trap myself, looking but not commenting. If its any consolation, I have gone back and deleted threads out of frustration.

I like the shot, for the contrasting colors, and especially the "golden hour" light the houses are painted with.

One time, after a rant, I was about to leave Steve's forever, but a few diehards intervened, and here I am. There aren't a lot of us that post or comment regularly, but there are hundreds that look and don't speak, for one reason or another. Maybe they're not members and can't comment without joining, but enjoy looking at our talented photography.

As a rule of thumb, if I don't comment it's usually because nothing really grabs me- and I've always been a believer in "if you've got nothing good to say, don't bother...."

Nevertheless...
My own take is that there's a touch too much clutter in the shot for my taste- maybe crop slightly to remove some- or some cloning (or both).
I'd boost up the colour a touch also... though the evening lighting whilst can boost some colours, can also desaturate others- especially in shadow areas....

A slight tweak...

jj, to me it looks like an ad for Glidden Paint. Colors are great but there is no story being told here. The boxy enclosure is very distracting. Finally, blue water, blue house, blue sky, oh my!

Sorry dude, Ive been told on this forum before that my critique was unwanted and got the impression that the forum was only interested in people blowing smoke up each others rear ends

"your awesome", "no your awesome", "you should be in nat geo" etc!

Critique where its due though.

The Good:
Colors are fantastic, ive never seen such contrasting houses side by side.
Nice and sharp too.

The Critique:
Im not sure about the viewpoint. Its hard for my eye to find a focal point, its just jumping around the image. Lack of focal point and leading lines really. Im sure there's a much better vantage point with some lines leading up to a clearly defined focal point, while keeping the awesome colors. Id re-visit the place if I were you, and try to do it at sunrise or sunset, get some aswesome color in that sky also
