A couple of suggestions.

As far as composition, clean the sticks off the flowers. Those extraneous items take away from your picture.

I see from your EXIF that the picture was shot at f32 and 1/125. For close ups, I generally use as open an f-stop as possible to blur the background. With the bright sun, it may not be possible to open up as much as you'd like, but maybe use a shutter priority mode and set the shutter as fast as possible and let the camera open the aperture as much as possible.

Finally, I would crop out the partial flowers on theright side of the picture, so you're more drawn to the main flowers. I've taken the liberty of cropping.

Hi Isager,

I think you do the same as I do, which is not paying attention to the fine details, like GeorgeNC said the twigs need moving and I'd have to add that the flowers could do with a shake to get that dirt off of them.

Although above is always easier said than done,I have read it some many times, yet I still always forget the simple things.

Alan :-)

When you have time to compose look at what distracts since this has caught your eye to take a shot.

Take many shots and at different angles and change your distances from shooting the flower. Try some zoom and shoot from a distance.

The color you chose to shoot is not easy and you did a nice job of getting detail but the lack of DOF distracts from the flower being the center of interest.

Thanks for sharing.

not keen on this one. it kind of looks dull and dirty. I like flower pictures to look bright and happy. it almost looks like a weed! I also like a flower pic with a well defined frame/gap around the flower with that nice blurred background look.
