Thanks for all the comments. This contest is just for the South Carolina state fair. I don't care if I don't win, I just want a picture to make it to the gallary where it will be viewed by the public with other pictures, paintings, and other crafts.

Maybe this has already been suggested, but here goes. I agree that the items shouldn't overlap, because it makes it difficult to tell where one ends/begins. However, did you try burning and dodging the flowers to make the front one pop. If you burn in the rear flower, it may be enough to seperate the two. Here is a quick job to show what i mean, hope ya don't mind.

i have said this before.. but this would just be easier to reshoot.. put some seperation between the flowers.. get a little better background blur and introduce a 3rd flower for balance..
