There was very little colour in the scene, but I quite liked the textures. The dynamic range was also very low, maybe only 2.5 stops in the whole scene; the mist was just lifting.

So a natural B&W conversion.

Most people seem to prefer more contrast than I naturally dial in, so I've put in as much as I think I can without losing the detail in the textures.

P.S. The lighter area in the shallow water isn't a digital artifact, the water really was much lighter there, due perhaps to depth, refraction or the underlying material at that point.

Comments appreciated.

I like the tone giving good contrast. good composition: rule of the third in all perspectives hence plenty of artistic qualities.. I know you like B&W, how is it in colour? Regards. Jaki

I like this one.

I think the boost in contrast is just about righton this one. Atleast to my eyes. I still can see plenty of texture detail at this level. Like Jaki, I would like to see the color version too!......Even if the color is minimal.

Nice clean composition. Pleasing to look at.

I love it! Awesome photo. I'd be curious to see the color version too. Still, I really like b&w and you've done a nice job with this one.
