thought I would take a half sized plunge and put up one of a rare few shots of yours truely.

As per usual comment and critique welcome.

I'm glad you took the half plunge Ollie. I would have said that the lamp was slightly distracting but then considering this is a shot of "The Lamp Man" himself (not to be mistaken for SteveDak AKA Limp Lamp Man :lol, then the shot is pretty characteristic of the artist.

One small point however, I just feel that this portrait would have been better taken by feminine hands.... :blah:

I like the colour of this... but find the piece of hair over your face a little distracting!

Well it looks like i've got a lot to learn.

I have trouble of taken pics of other subjects let alone turning the camera on my self.

I like the pic though The thing i like about itis the lighting very good.

Maybe i'll try some self portraits but i'll wait a bit until i can afford another camera don't wanna damge it ha ha ha

Successful at revealing the mood of the 'artist', IMO.
Very strong light source which provides, surprisingly, very mellowed, eye pleasing colours on the subject while still leaving sth to guess about facial expression. I agree with Yazz about your hair but I also think that it should be preserved somehow, changing its style. Well done!!
Education (I mean the course you attend) is never a waste, after all :-)
