I have never tried a monopod. Is it worth having it? How it is possible to avoid camera shake as you still gotta hold the cam with your hand? I bought a small Tripod from a cheap shop. And it is far better than the table top tripods i could find in the Camera shops. My D50 with Sigma 18-200 sits well on this tripod. It is very easy to carry around too!

A monopod has a bracket on which you mount the camera, just as a tripod does. To keep the monopd steady, you put your left foot slightly forward of the right one, and brace the monopod against your left insole.
