I'm a web designer about to invest in my first photo printer.

What I'd like to use it for primarily is to print collages and art made in Photoshop at sizes up to 8.5x11. All of the sizing, cropping and coloring will be done in Photoshop beforehand, thus I don't need a photo printer with a complicated LCD menu or a ton of options. What I DO need is something reliable and of upper-medium quality that simply prints well. Someone suggested dye-sub over inkjet? I'm not educated enough to know which is best for my needs.

Also, I use a PowerShot S3IS so I'm partial to Canon, though it seems HP printers top a lot of lists. There appear to be LOTS of models made by both brands thus I haven't been able to decide which of the bunch is best for me.

Any advice would be great, thanks!

You might check out the Epson R800. It is the little brother of Epson's R1800, both use Epsons ultra chrome inks.
