Just a quick question.
Is it worth upgrading from an Epson R200 to an Epson R800?
I know the R800 usees pigment ink, but are the quality of the prints that much better?
Thanks Griff

I just had my Epson R300 give up the ghost 13 1/2 months after I bought it. Epson printers waste a lot of ink during cleaning cycles and the durability of the printers has dropped in my opinion. I just bought an HP C5180 All-in -one Photo printer and I am amazed by the results. I would suggest that you look at these before investing in another Epson. The unit I have is also available without the scanner. Replacement tanks are around $11 Canadian. I bought a combo pack of all 6 tanks and 150 sheets of 4 x 6 heavy photo paper for $42 Canadian. See if Epson can beat that. My HP printer pictures are more vivid and crisper than the Epson printer, this came as a shock to me as I had sworn by Epson before.

The R800 is more rugged (it would need to be...) and should last longer but the output, IMHO, isn't all that much better -- the 200/300 machines, properly set up and fed with the same image, get remarkably close.

My R800 just died after 13 1/2 months also. Customer support would not even talk to me without charging $10. I would not buy another Epson printer!
