All,

I am having an absolute nightmare trying to get a problem resolved with my Epson R300 photo-printer. I got the "Service Required" message that everyone has seen by now, and got it out by holding the Power+Ink+Stop for 10 seconds. Now the printer looks and acts like it should be printing but all I get are blank pages.

I have searched this site (web) for days, and tried everyone's suggestions, but to no avail. Here is a list of things I have tried. If anyone can offer any other suggestions, I would really appreciate it:
  • Ordered cleaning kit
    [/*]
  • Flushed the print nozzles
    [/*]
  • Cleaned the Heads (1,467 times?)
    [/*]
  • Ran delivery unit over cloth with cleaning fluid (Soaked for 10 minutes)
    [/*]
  • Download/installed the SSC Service Utility, and ran every option on it (Even options that did not apply. Most options did not even function)
    [/*]
  • Reset the ‘Protection Counter'
    [/*]
  • Primed the print cartridges
    [/*]
  • Reset the chips using a hardware chip resetter
    [/*]
  • Reset the Platen (To Normal)[/*]
… and I am sure there were others.

Any idea? Little help?
Thanks,

Kendall

Try disconnecting the printer from everything and leave it overnight — pull the cables, don't just power down.

Try the printer on another computer.

Make certain the cartridges are properly seated so the heads can't pull air instead of ink (they will if they can.)

Remove the Epson drivers and reinstall (get the latest from Epson.)

If you haven't already, install the waste ink mod -- this will let you see if head cleans actually pull ink through the heads.

Remove the SSC utility in case it's causing a conflict somewhere — you can always re-install it.

BTW, don't do thousands of head cleans -- excessive cleaning is a Bad Thing — not to mention the ink it wastes.

Idle (Member),

Thanks for the reply. I did as you suggested ... but no go.

Right now, the printer is disconnected, so I did not need to do some of the test you suggested. There are no errors, and it looks as though it would work fine, but even a nozzle print pattern (directly from the printer, no pc) is blank.

I am still going to try the 'waste ink mod' just to get a better idea of what is happening.

Anybody else got any ideas? ... Anything?

I appreciate you all hangin' in there with me.

Thanks,
Kendall

Hi, Good day, there are 2 problems occurs in the printhead and pump system
1. The printhead is totally clog need printhead remove and declogged
2. The pump discharge tubes is clog and cannot prime the cartridges
I will make a documentation how you will do it, I've done this on several types of epson
printer but I did not make any documentation by taking pictures step by step procedure
how it was done. i'll post it in our later this week in our website http://continuousinkprintsystem.com Best recommendation after it will be clean is to switch into CIS and use dye ink, if you use pigmented, you need periodic maintenance for the printhead and pump system.
