Default Canon printers and Macs

I'm considering the purchase of a Canon i850 or S820 for use with my Mac. I note that both come with Mac drivers but the software included is not Mac compatible. Should this deter me? Is the software really necessary to get good prints?Should I look at another brand?

As long as you can get compatible drivers, it's not a problem, unless you really want to use whatever software they're bundling. Usually, there are updates available for download.

I say it's not a problem, but as I've made clear in another post, I consider buying an Epson inkjet to be a problem in itself - maybe even ANY inkjet.

I have the i850 and it comes with software that is Mac Compatible. Are you running Mac OS 9 or Mac OS X?

Certain features are available on 9 but not X. Some options don't print correctly if you use iPhoto but are fine if you use the software that comes with it in OS 9.

If you have any specific questions let me know and I will answer them as best I can.

Regards
