I just ordered the R2400. However, as I mainly produce high gloss color portraits, I am concerned that the 1800 may actually produce better high gloss color photos. Any experiences/reaction?

I have an R1800 and have seen quite a few prints off of a R2400. For monochrome, if you are really picky, the 2400 is the way to go although with a fully color managed workflow my mono prints with the R1800 look amazing. For glossy color work the R1800 will produce better prints provided that everything is set up correctly. It has a smaller droplet size and when comparing prints up close (glossy and luster paper) it just is more pleasing. For wall hanging I'd say it's a wash.
